The Governors are an important group of people who have responsibility for the effective management of the Federation and all schools within it. They work in partnership with the Executive Headteacher to establish the aims and values of the schools and to ensure that all statutory requirements are met.
School Governors act together to focus on three core functions:
- Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
- Holding the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils
- Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent
To make sure we operate efficiently and effectively the Governing Body delegates authority for some functions to sub-committees, which usually meet once per term, more often if necessary. Our current main sub-committees are:
This committee meets each term, more often if necessary. The role of this committee is to monitor and drive forward continuous school improvement and raised standards. The committee scrutinises results and considers the Federation’s Termly Operation Plans and School Improvement Plans; monitoring progress being made and the impact on standards.
Finance and Premises Committee
This committee meets each term, more often if necessary. The role of this committee is to oversee the financial affairs of the school and work with the Senior Leadership Team to agree the key spending decisions. In consultation with the school, it is responsible for setting the budget each year, and then making sure that the money is spent as intended. The committee ensures value for the money is achieved, that all children benefit from the planned expenditure and that we follow sound accounting procedures. This committee is also responsible for the security, safety, maintenance and repair of the school buildings.
This committee meets each term, more often if necessary. The role of this committee is to take responsibility for personnel (all staff) within the Federation.
