History of the Federation

The Federation was first established in July 2014 by the joining of Holywell and St. Helen’s Primary Schools. Holywell achieved an ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted grade in July 2013 and were approached by the Local Authority to provide support in a neighboring school who were experiencing some difficulties. St. Helen’s had been ‘Requires Improvement’ over a 6 year period and through working closely with Holywell were supported to achieve a ‘Good’ Ofsted grading in February 2015.

In September 2016 Somersham Primary School joined the Federation as the result of 2 Ofsted inspections in March 2014 and March 2016 where the school was judged as ‘Requires Improvement’ It was recommended by Ofsted that Somersham adopted a different leadership structure to support school improvement and this prompted them to approach the Federation who had already been involved in supporting the school.

The three schools now work closely together to ensure the best possible outcomes for all pupils. Geographically close, our schools serve a wide local community promoting equality of opportunity and the chance for all pupils to excel. The Federation’s mission ‘Inspire, Believe, Achieve’ is central to our core purpose and we strive to provide an outstanding education in all of our schools.
