Welcome to Ash class!
This term we are completing learning around the topic of ‘Secret Gardens’
So far we have been exploring our own school gardens and spending as much time outside as possible planting, looking at the variety of plants in our school and hunting for minibeasts.

We have been loving spending time in our new and improved outdoor area! We have really taken ownership over this space and loved helping set up the new additions whilst still enjoying the things that were there before. We have particularly enjoyed filling the planters, planting the plants and watering them independently.
We have been writing our own endings to the story of ‘The Princess and The White Bear King’. Mrs Jennings has been so impressed with our fabulous ideas, WOW words and neat handwriting. Have a read for yourself…
We have been extremely busy recently challenging ourselves to try new thing and have a go at learning challenges around the classroom. We have been fixing broken 100 squares, making ‘intricate’ crowns like the one in ‘The Princess and The White Bear King’ and creating our own videos using iPads.
We have been developing our art skills focusing on tonal change in painting and combining materials to create some fantastic ‘frozen’ art. We mixed colours to create the background and then created a penguin collage to sit on top. We think they are brilliant and hope you do too!
We really enjoyed making our own recycled notebooks as part an environmental workshop with Green Up Your Act. The children loved finding out about ‘Earthships’ and using recycled materials to create something new.
We have been practising our number bonds using counters to help us. We investigated how many different ways we could make 10 using 2 different numbers. We then moved onto investigating how many ways we could make 20 and looked for patterns to help us.
