Spring – Summer term 2018
Themes for collective worship:
Spring 1 – PERSEVERANCE
Spring 2 – COURAGE
Summer 1 – COMPASSION
Summer 2 – ENDURANCE
As well as these four themes we will look at Epiphany, Candlemas, Lent, Mother’s Day, Bishop’s Lent Challenge, Pentecost, Trinity and the Mother Church.
Collective Worship takes place everyday at school. On a Monday and Friday by the head teacher. On a Tuesday by our Church School group in the form of an ‘Open the Book’ worship. Children stay as a class for their Worship on Wednesdays and get together as a Key Stage for Worship on Thursdays.
Each Collective Worship starts with a gathering and lighting of the alter candle as well as class candles. During Worship we might look at a specific Bible reference linked to the theme of the week/term. Children have the opportunity to listen to Bible stories and reflect on how the theme affects them and what they can do in their lives to make a positive impact. Children are invited to pray and take part in collective worship as much as possible. At the end of collective worship, the whole school take part in a sending when the candles are extinguished.
